I was born and raised in Israel, started cooking at the age of 13 at a local street food shop. After year and a half in the Israeli army I went straight back in the kitchen working in an Italian restaurant in Tel Aviv. After just over a year working my way up to a sous chef position there, I decided to relocate to Sydney and started my studies at Le Cordon Bleu.
I’ve now been with Merivale for 5 years and after 2.5 years as a Sous Chef at Mr. Wong, We have opened Jimmy’s Falafel, a take away falafel and middle eastern eatery that I am very looking forward to re open.
What am I doing during isolation?
To keep occupied during COVID-19, I started Dinner By Buchnik, a take away and delivery business selling Middle Eastern-home made meals.
The dinner package offers a meal for 2 and the menu is changing on a weekly basis. The menu is inspired by memories from home, which of course includes a crispy, juicy green falafel.
This helps me to stay connected to my suppliers that are also in need of our support and also keeping myself occupied for the time being.
I’m very thankful for the support that I had so far and will keep working hard to deliver the best I possibly can.
I find isolation as a great time to self reflect, reconnect to my family (on FaceTime) and of course exercise more and stay healthy.
Stay home, stay safe, exercise, eat falafel.
